    Happy Friday, tree enthusiasts of Arizona! 

    Arizona's Magnificent Tree Program recognizes those trees throughout our state that stand apart from the rest. The program helps connect us to trees, increases awareness of the field of forestry and urban forestry and encourages people to pay attention to trees as critical ecosystem species.

    Twice a year, DFFM hosts a Magnificent Tree Measuring Workshop to invite tree lovers to learn how to measure trees so that they can nominate the magnificent trees they love in their communities!

    Join us on Saturday, October 11th from 9am to 12pm at the Highlands Center for Natural History in Prescott to learn about what it means when a tree is designated a Champion, Heritage, or Witness Tree. You will gain hand-on practice using professional forestry tools to measure tree height, canopy, and trunk circumference.

    This workshop is open to the public and requires pre-registration as space is limited. You can register here.
     
    What to bring: Be prepared to spend time outside! Our learning space is indoors, but we will move outside to walk around the grounds and measure trees. Please wear layers, bring water, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and anything else you might need to remain comfortable during the hands-on portion of the morning.

This will allow the opportunity for all interested candidates to complete the steps of the application process, which includes the gathering and submission of work history, applying and registering for the written exam and the skills test, and preparing for the written exam and the skills test.  This application, testing and certification process is completed directly with ISA.  Start your application process now!     We will NOT be focused on competitive events.


    Learn climbing techniques, and systems and gain a perspective on where our profession has been and where we are going. Instructors will address varying skill levels, and provide an opportunity for all attendees to progress to the next step. 

    The morning will focus on safety, inspections and benefits of innovation. Later in the day attendees will work at multiple climbing stations with different climbing techniques and tasks.

    Don't miss this unique opportunity for a hands-on learning experience.

        What is Certified Arborist Training (CAT)?
        The Certified Arborist Training Course is a series of classes designed to prepare students to take the ISA Certified Arborist exam. It is also an excellent introduction to the field of arboriculture, as well as a great review for industry professions. The course is open to all students. CEU's are offered for Certified Arborists.

        What will I learn?
        Classes cover all chapters in the ISA Arborists' Certification Study Guide.

        What materials do I need?

        The ISA Arborists' Certification Study Guide is included with your Full Registration. (All Daily Registrants are required to provide their own ISA Arborists' Certification Study Guide, and may purchase from ACTC or ISA)


        What if I am unable to attend all 6 classes? 

        Daily Registration is available. The ISA Arborists' Certification Study Guide is not included in the daily registration.  Daily registrants are required to provide their own ISA Arborists' Certification Study Guide. The ISA Arborists' Certification Study Guide may be purchased through your CAT Registration, or from the ISA Online Store.

        •  There are limited seats for the exam.
        •  It is recommended to begin the Exam Application process as early as possible.
        •  It can take time to submit the paperwork and receive approval to register to take the exam.
        • To take the exam, individuals must apply directly with the ISA approximately 4 weeks prior to the exam to be eligible for testing.  Please follow up with ISA regarding the deadline for the scheduled exam of your preference.
        • The ISA requires a minimum of 3 years documented field experience before taking the Certified Arborist exam. If you are a self-employed business owner, a minimum of 36 months of invoicing is required.
        • The ACTC/CAT Program series does not include the exam application and exam fee.
        • ACTC is not responsible for your Certified Arborist Exam Application.
        • The Certified Arborist Exam is proctored by the ISA. 
        • The ISA Certified Arborist Exam requires an Exam Application and Exam Fee to be paid directly to the ISA.
