¿Qué es la ACTC Preparación para el examen de Arbolista Certificado, 2 días en Español?

El Curso ACTC Preparación para el examen de Arbolista Certificadoes un programa de dos días diseñado para preparar a los estudiantes para tomar el examen de Arbolista Certificado de la ISA. También es una excelente introducción al campo de la arboricultura, así como una gran reseña para los profesionales de la industria. El curso está abierto a todos los estudiantes. Los CEU se ofrecen para arboricultores certificados.

¿Qué voy a aprender?

Las clases cubren los temas de examen más ponderados en la Guía de Estudio de Certificación de Arboristas de la ISA.

Día 1 (Junio 11:)

Conceptos básicos de poda y biología de árboles: los árboles paisajísticos requieren un mayor nivel de cuidado para mantener su integridad estructural y estética. La poda debe hacerse con una comprensión de la biología de los árboles. Una poda inadecuada puede crear daños duraderos o incluso acortar la vida del árbol.
Manejo del suelo - ¿Qué es el suelo y cómo funciona para los árboles? La razón por la que los árboles están vivos, qué son los nutrientes, cómo el suelo almacena el agua y los nutrientes. Cómo funcionan las enmiendas en el suelo.
Diagnóstico y tratamiento: cómo discernir y evaluar la anormalidad en la apariencia de un árbol comienza con un examen cuidadoso del problema. La identificación de los síntomas específicos del daño y la comprensión de sus causas, permite diagnosticar adecuadamente el problema y seleccionar un tratamiento adecuado.

Día 2 (Junio 12):

Revisa los temas del Día 1- Poda, manejo del suelo, diagnóstico y tratamiento.
Gestión de riesgos de los árboles: comprender y abordar los riesgos asociados con los árboles hace que la propiedad sea más segura y prolonga la vida útil del árbol. Analizaremos qué crea el riesgo y las formas de abordar los riesgos asociados con los árboles.
Prácticas de trabajo seguras: requisitos de seguridad y normas ANSII, peligros comunes como caerse de árboles, ser golpeado por árboles o ramas que caen, lesiones por motosierras, astilladoras de madera y líneas eléctricas energizadas. Cómo identificar los riesgos de seguridad y planificar prácticas de trabajo seguras.

What is Certified Arborist Review?
The Certified Arborist Review Course is a two-day program designed to prepare students to take the ISA Certified Arborist exam. It is also an excellent introduction to the field of arboriculture, as well as a great review for industry professionals. The course is open to all students. CEU's are offered for Certified Arborists.

What will I learn?

Classes cover the most heavily weighted exam topics in the ISA Arborists' Certification Study Guide.

Day 1 (Thursday, June 11):

Pruning and Tree Biology Basics - Landscape trees require a higher level of care to maintain their structural integrity and aesthetics. Pruning must be done with an understanding of tree biology. Improper pruning can create lasting damage or even shorten the tree's life.
Soil Management - What is soil and how it works for trees. The reason trees are alive, what nutrients are, how soil stores water and nutrients. How amendments work in soil.
Diagnosis and Treatment - How to discern and evaluate abnormality in a tree’s appearance begins with a careful examination of the problem. Identifying the specific symptoms of damage and understanding their causes, enables proper diagnose the problem and selection of an appropriate treatment.

Day 2 (June 12):

Review the topics from Day 1- Pruning, soil management, diagnosis and treatment.
Tree Risk Management - Understanding and addressing the risks associated with trees makes property safer and prolongs the life of the tree. We will look at what creates risk and ways to address risks associated with trees.
Safe Work Practices - Safety requirements and ANSII standards, common hazards such as falling from trees, being struck by falling trees or branches, chainsaw injuries, wood chippers, and energized power lines. How to identify safety risks and plan for safe work practices.

Course Information
This 3-day course and exam is open to interested parties who meet the prerequisites (see Tree Risk Assessment Qualification Application Guide) and is limited to 20 arborists (first-come/first-served). The qualification consists of a 2-day educational course followed by a 1/2 day assessment that includes both a written and field component. It is required that you attend the course and successfully complete the assessment in order to receive this qualification.

Registration closes on September 18, 2026 or when class is filled. All payments are due at the time of registration. Cancellation/refund requests must be submitted by September 18, 2026. All applications will be reviewed for approval. Your registration will be finalized via email. NO REFUND OR TRANSFER WILL BE GRANTED AFTER SEPTEMBETR 18, 2026

What to bring to class:

Your government-issued photo ID
Hard hat and high-visibility vest or shirt.
#2 pencils and clipboard for taking notes.

Please dress for your comfort level indoors and outdoors; we cannot always control the room temperature to suit everyone. Come prepared to spend part of the day outdoors.

Confirmation Packet: ISA will email you a digital copy of the TRAQ Manual prior to the course. Please make sure ISA has your current email address to avoid any delays in getting the manual. The workbook will be provided to you during check-in on the first day.

To earn a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification you must hold or have held one of the following prerequisites. Please indicate which prerequisite(s) can be used to verify your eligibility:

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE TO ISA TRAQ ELIGIBILITY:

If you do not hold an ISA Credential nor was ever TRAQ qualified - YOU CANNOT REGISTER FOR THIS TRAQ WORKSHOP.
You must go to My ISA > ISA Credentialing in your ISA Account and submit your eligibility directly to ISA to be approved. If you do not have an ISA account - you will need to create an account.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

This course prepares climbers for the most likely emergency scenarios. Participants will work through scenarios that may be encountered in the field and how to risk assess, manage the scene, evaluate the injury, and perform climber extraction. Using hands-on experience, our instructors will focus on emergency preparedness and accident prevention.

Other topics to be included are:

First Aid
Self-rescue
Climber extrication, rescuer ascent and work positioning
Most common tree rescue scenarios
Working with first responders

Course Times: 8:00am – 3:00pm; lunch is provided.

Job Briefing and Setting up for Success: OSHA/ANSI Requirement and Annex F - Stepping Process Flowchart and Job Briefing, what needs to be covered in a JSA/JHA, EAP, work plan, gear inspection, access lines, and throwlines.

9:00 am - 10:00 am

Assessing the Emergency: First Aid Kit Review, ANSI Requirement, Basic Training in First Aid, CPR and AED.

10:00 am - 11:00 am

Help is Arriving: Hazard Assessments/EHAP, Applicable Standards, Overview of EHAP, working with first responders, communication, and assisting.

11:00 am-12:00 pm Lunch (Lunch is Provided - please let us know about any dietary restrictions)

12:00pm - 1:00pm

Instructor Demonstration: Assessing the problem, Victim assessment, Gear assessment, Hazard Inspection from the ground, implementing EAP, ascending to the victim, secondary inspection (in the tree), moving the victim, and connections.

Break Out Groups, Practicals

2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Life support and stability, climbing system, SRS vs MRS, victim packaging, injury specific, descending with victim, rescuer positioning, speed and control, landing the victim, and hand-off to first responders.
