It's time for an exciting opportunity! Apply for an incredible new program that will expand your vocational opportunities to the world of arboriculture right in your hometown. We are offering this program in Somerton, South of Tucson, Nogales, and Yuma.

The objective of the program is to train participants to attain skills in arboriculture. The attained skills will prepare individuals for an apprenticeship or an entry-level position in the arboriculture employment field. This training is done through instruction and experiential learning. The curriculum outline includes work readiness skills, hands-on training in tree care and maintenance, as well as instruction in safety, tree identification, tool usage, and more.

Get paid $15 an hour to attend an 8-week pre-employment course in arboriculture. Class is for 32 hours per week. Receive safety equipment, a computer, course certificates, a $1,000 course completion stipend, and an opportunity to to be placed in an 8-week paid internship.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

ACCEPTED PARTICIPANTS

Must be between the ages of 18-26
High School Diploma or GED
Commit to a minimum of 8 weeks of training
Available for the length of the program
Open to new experiences
Ability to work outside

Paid Bi-Weekly for Course participation ($15 per hour/32 hours per week/for 8 weeks)
Required to attend and participate in all classes (in classroom, field trips, and work sites)
Opportunity for additional 8 weeks of paid on-the-job training

PARTNERSHIP

The Arizona Community Tree Council (ACTC) is offering this program in 4 cities in Arizona, Yuma, Somerton, Nogales, and the South of Tucson. For the cities of Somerton and Yuma, ACTC is working in partnership with Arizona Western College (AWC) Continuing Education to offer this program to participants in Yuma County. AWC has been a program partner in the past and is utilizing all of their knowledge and experience in conjunction with ACTC and AAPP programming. AWC will provide participants enrollment in AWC and will offer CEU's . In addition they will also assist in offering information for further educational opportunities. AWC is a wonderful partner that has a great connection with the community.
