PEST MANAGEMENT IN CITRUS TREES & PEST MANAGEMENT IN PALMS


Glen Wright is employed with the University of Arizona Extension office in Yuma, Arizona.  His current activities include developing field research and educational programs that benefit fruit growers and others, editing a newsletter, serving as an information resource to the citrus and palm industries and testing new and deciduous varieties and rootstocks.  Additionally, he is responsible for developing and teaching a formal course on citrus productions which is offered to students at Arizona Wester College.

Urban Tree Threats Response Guide Website

The Integrated Pest Management framework is used throughout this Website to address management of insect, disease and environmental threats to urban trees in Arizona and New Mexico. Elements of the IPM approach including cultural, mechanical, biological and chemical control strategies are described.

Ann Audrey is an environmental consultant working with urban tree management, rainwater harvesting and sustainable design. Recent projects include researching and developed profiles of insect and disease threats to urban trees applicable to Arizona and New Mexico, compiling information on climate resilient native trees for use in the southwest, developing best practices to increase the planting and use of native trees and developing guidance on the use native and cultivated fruit and nut trees.

From Canyons to Creeks, Arizona's Battle with Invasives

Attendees will learn about the top invasive species of concern for the state of Arizona, where to find resources that help identify these species, as well as what to do and who to contact if they suspect they have found an invasive insect, disease, or plant that has not previously been found in Arizona.

Aly McAlexander is the Forest Health Program Manager for the Arizona Dept. of Forestry and Fire Management. She has been with the department for more than 5 years and has statewide responsibilities that include administering forest health related grant programs, and providing technical assistance to the public, private landowners, and state, county and/or other municipalities, regarding the management of native, non-native, and invasive insects, diseases, and plants around Arizona.
