PARTNERSHIP

The Arizona Community Tree Council (ACTC) is offering this program in 4 cities in Arizona; Yuma, Somerton, Nogales, and the South of Tucson.  For the South of Tucson, ACTC is working in partnership with Tucson Clean and Beautiful (TCB) to offer this program to participants in the South of Tucson.  TCB has run a similar program in the past and is utilizing all of their knowledge and experience of arboriculture in conjunction with ACTC and AAPP programming.  TCB will provide participants peer-to-peer mentoring and offers a whole-person approach to the program.  In addition, to the hands-on-training and arboriculture opportunities, they will also assist in finding appropriate internship opportunities.  TCB's schedule starts on a Tuesday and ends on a Saturday to allow for more time to connect with the community and the land planting trees.

"I loved being able to apply the hands-on skills from the knowledge I learned inside the classroom and I'm excited to learn even more. Now every time i see a tree or a shrub I'm looking for the species, if there are any diseases, wrong prunes or if it's planted properly and I think it's important knowledge to know even without being in the field of arboriculture."

-Emma F. 2023 AAPP graduate

TCB is a non-profit environmental advocacy and action organization founded in 1985 to preserve and improve our environment, conserve natural resources, and enhance quality of life in the City of Tucson and eastern Pima County. These goals are achieved through educational and hands-on programs emphasizing personal action in recycling and waste reduction, land stewardship, urban forestry and beautification. Originally established to keep our community litter-free, TCB has grown to coordinate programs and projects with a diversity of partners including government agencies, community groups, businesses, and the support of thousands of volunteers. Programs are supported by grants, memberships, business and personal donations, in-kind donations of materials and services.

"…this program was awesome because it opened a lot of doors even an internship with Arbor Tech.  I’m really excited for what lays ahead and I’m ready to go for it."

-Kyle Vance, 2023 AAPP Graduate-Employed Full-Time
