About the Healing Trees Program

The Arizona Community Tree Council is partnering with The FUSION Foundation to coordinate a collective tree planting program to create tangible, visible acts of support and community healing in response to the Tucson tragedies of January 8, 2011.

The program, called Healing Trees, calls for individuals, organizations and businesses to plant trees as living memorials for those who lost their lives and were injured in Tucson.

Let us all take a stand to honor those who gathered for Rep. Gabrielle Gifford's Congress on Your Corner and were shot. Let us provide living trees that will stand tall and proud in Arizona for many, many years to come.

Upcoming plantings on February 14, 2011- Arizona Statehood Day (Arizona's 99th birthday) include (to date):

  • 19 trees to be planted on the Senate grounds at the Capitol

  • Gardens for Humanity will plant five fruit trees at elementary schools in Verde Valley

  • Cultural Arts Coalition will plant two trees at Lowell Elementary

  • World Care, a nonprofit humanitarian relief organization www.worldcare.org

  • Women's Plaza of Honor at UofA www.womensplaza.arizona.edu
